Daily routine, walks and Apple Health, notifications, socialization, feeding
The Care screen
The Care screen has three sections:
- "Daily essentials" โ "Walks", "Meals", "Water" and "Potty".
- "Health & grooming" โ "Grooming", "Health", "Teeth", "Weight" and "Socialization".
- "Activity & play" โ "Play" and "Training".
Daily goals
Walks, meals, water and potty have a goal of 1 to 12 times a day. If a tile has no goal yet, tapping it first opens "Goal change": pick a number and tap "Save new goal". The sheet shows what's usual for your dog's age, and the Asky button sets the recommended goal, which then follows your dog's age.
Logging
Tap a tile and tap "Log walk", "Log meal", "Log water" or "Log potty break". The entry is logged at the current time โ you can't pick an earlier time, and a logged entry can't be edited or deleted. "Edit goal" changes the goal.
Tasks
"Grooming", "Health", "Teeth", "Weight", "Play" and "Training" open a list:
- under "Available", tap "Schedule" to pick a date;
- under "Scheduled" are your tasks. "Done" appears on the day of the task. For a weigh-in, Puffy asks for the weight;
- after "Done", you can tap "Undo" for a few seconds;
- swipe a scheduled task to "Unschedule" it or "Delete event".
The Today card
It shows how many things are done today, what's next, and your streak โ how many days in a row you've logged at least one thing.
Walks and Apple Health
A timed walk
- Care โ "Walks" โ "Start walk".
- The timer shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- To finish, tap "Stop" on the Lock Screen, "Stop & save" in the Dynamic Island, or "Stop walk now" in Puffy.
- "Start walk" only appears if Live Activities are allowed for Puffy. Turn them on under Puffy in iOS Settings.
- Walks from 5 minutes are saved. A shorter walk isn't saved.
- If you forget to stop the timer, it stops by itself after 3 hours and the walk is saved. Puffy sends a notification.
- No connection? The walk waits on your iPhone and is sent when you're back online. If saving fails, tap "Retry saving walk" before starting a new walk.
A walk without a timer
Care โ "Walks" โ "Log walk". The walk is logged at the current time.
A planned walk
On Care, the "Next walk" card โ "Plan walk" โ choose the date and time. Puffy reminds you 30 minutes before and at the planned time. Planned walks are kept on this iPhone only.
Apple Health
The first time you tap "Walks", Puffy offers "Sync walks from Apple Health": tap "Connect" or "Skip for now".
- What we read: Walking and Running workouts of 1 minute or more, including from Apple Watch. They become your dog's walks.
- What we write: only walks started with "Start walk", saved as a Walking workout. Walks logged with "Log walk" aren't sent to Apple Health.
If you don't allow access, everything else in Puffy works as usual. If saving to Health is off, Puffy shows "Saving to Apple Health is off" with "Open Settings". To change access later, open the Health app, tap your profile picture โ Apps โ Puffy.
Notifications
What Puffy sends:
- care reminders: at the planned time and 30 minutes before;
- planned walk reminders, and a notice when the walk timer stops by itself;
- when your dog's portrait is ready;
- when an uploaded document has been read;
- when Asky's health recommendations or advice are ready;
- when your dog moves to a new life stage.
To turn them on: if notifications are off, the Care screen shows a "Reminders off" banner. Tap "Enable" and allow notifications, or tap "Settings" if you turned them off earlier.
To turn them off or change sounds: Profile โ "Notifications and Sounds". Puffy's page in iOS Settings opens.
Not getting notifications? See "Notifications don't arrive".
Feeding guide
Puffy suggests how many grams of food your dog needs a day.
Where: Care โ "Meals". The guide is the Asky tip in the sheet, for example "~XโY g of dry food a day".
When it appears:
- "Diet" is set in your dog's profile. The guide follows the diet: dry, wet, raw or mixed food.
- A meal goal is set. Without one, the "Meals" tile asks you to set a goal first.
- If your dog's weight isn't known, Puffy uses a typical weight for the breed and says so. Add the weight for a closer guide.
Your food. Tap "Choose food" in the same sheet to note what your dog eats. Then "Ask Asky about this food" appears. The food is saved on this iPhone only.
It's a rough guide. Check the food packaging and ask your vet. For puppies, portions change as they grow, so check back regularly.
