👋 Getting started

Puffy is an iPhone app that helps you look after your dog every day. It brings together:

• daily care — walks, meals, water, potty, grooming, play and training, with daily goals and a walk timer on the Lock Screen;
• health — vaccines, medication, vet visits and check-ups, with recommendations from Asky;
• growth — weight against your breed's norm, life stage, socialization and, for females, heat cycles;
• documents — upload a photo or PDF from your vet, and Asky sorts the records for you;
• Asky — an AI assistant that knows your dog's profile and answers questions about them.

Puffy is free as Puffy Light. Puffy Plus is an optional subscription that gives Asky more room and lets you talk to Asky by voice.

Puffy doesn't replace your vet. It helps you understand what's going on and decide what to do next. Diagnoses are for your vet.

There are two ways to sign in.

With Apple. Tap "Continue with Apple". Puffy only receives your email address, and Apple lets you hide it.

With email. Tap "Sign in with email" and enter your address — we'll send you a 6-digit code.

• No email? Check your spam folder.
• You can request a new code after 60 seconds: a timer counts down, then "Resend code" appears.
• "Invalid code" — make sure you're entering the code from the latest email.
• "Too many requests" — wait a little and try again.

After you sign in, Puffy asks a few questions about your dog, one screen at a time:

1. "Your pet's name".
2. "Gender" and "Date of birth", on one screen.
3. A photo: "Take a photo", "Upload a photo" or "Skip". We use it to create your dog's portrait (see "Your dog's photo and portrait").
4. "Choose a breed" and "Choose a color". If the photo is accepted and Puffy recognizes the breed or the color confidently, that step is skipped.
5. "We will finish and notify you". Tap "Enable notifications" to hear when the portrait is ready, or "Later".
6. "We're almost done". Fill in your dog's profile, "Traits & habits", "Medical records" and "Pet photo" if you like. All of it is optional: tap "Continue" to go to the home screen.

Set the real date of birth. The date starts with a preset value, so change it to your dog's own. Life stage, human years and the heat card depend on it. After sign-up the date of birth can't be changed in your dog's profile. The last chance to fix it is the profile tile on the "We're almost done" screen.

Gender isn't preselected. If you skip it, you can choose it later in your dog's profile. Once chosen, it can't be changed.

One account holds one dog.

Puffy uses your dog's photo to create a portrait for the home screen.

A good photo

• is a real photograph, not a drawing or an avatar;
• shows one dog, and the dog is the main subject;
• shows the face fully or almost fully;
• is sharp and well lit;
• has nothing covering the dog.

People, background, a collar or clothes in the shot are fine, and the whole body doesn't need to be visible.

Why a photo was rejected. If a photo won't work, Puffy tells you why — for example, "We couldn't find a dog in this photo", "This photo is too blurry" or "The lighting hides too much detail". Pick another photo following the hint.

The portrait takes some time to create. If notifications are on, we'll let you know when it's ready. Until then, the home screen shows a placeholder.

Choose the photo carefully. An accepted photo can't be replaced and the portrait can't be recreated yet. If you skip this step, you can still add a photo on the "We're almost done" screen — after sign-up that option is gone.
